Karma Exchange Help
What is the Token Chain Length? When someone creates a Karma Token by sending that first message, the subsequent messages (and their Karma) are linked together like a chain through the exchange. Every time a message is sent, the effect of the first act of good will is felt. The length is equivalent to the number of people who have benefited from your initial act of good will. Borders Crossed? When a Karma Token is sent it is touched by a member within the exchange. Along with this fingerprint is the country from which the token was sent. The "Borders Crossed" represents the number of International borders the Karma Token has crossed in it's journey through the exchange. Someone I don't know sent me Karma? The system is not designed to spam members or non-members. You can only send one message to one email address at a time, so using the system for spam would not be very effecient. That said, you may receive messages from people you don't know. It is up to you to decide whether or not you wish to accept the message or reject it. If someone has used the system to send, we definately want to know. Please contact us to let us know if someone has abused the system. How is a message inappropriate? The Karma Exchange does not censor messages and we don't moderate the content sent between people. What may be appropriate language between friends may not be appropriate for everyone. As a way of maintaining a balance between posting messages publicly and respecting the fact that the Karma Exchange should be a safe and enjoyable place for all people, we have added a safeguard system that allows members to flag messages that they feel are inappropriate. What is an Orphaned Token?Sometimes when you send a message it doesn't get read by the recipient or maybe it is picked up as spam or accidently disappears. If a message is not read for 14 days, the Karma Token will be considered orphaned and sent to a random member who has been active in the last 24 hours. The recipient will receive a system message letting them know that an orphaned token has been sent to them. Why can I only rate a message once?To avoid the possibility of rating spam, you can only rate a message once and you must be logged in to rate messages or flag them as inappropriate. What does it mean to post public? When sending Karma, you can request that your Karma be posted in the Karma gallery if accepted. Although the sender can request to post public, the recipient of the Karma must post the message to the gallery in order to have it available. In this way, both sender and recipient must agree that the Karma is appropriate in order to post it to the gallery. I requested that my message be posted public, but it isn't?Both the sender and the recipient must agree to post a message public before it will appear in the gallery. If you chose to post your message public, perhaps the recipient didn't feel it would be appropriate to do so. We suggest asking your recipient if you are not sure. What is the block list for?If you know of someone from whom you do not wish to receive Karma, you can add them to your block list. If a person on your block list tries to send you a message, they will receive a warning saying that you cannot receive message from them. If you suspect that someone is sending spam using the Karma Exchange, please contact us and let us know. Can I add someone to my friend list if I don't know their email?Yes you can, as long as you know your friend's Karma Exchange member id, you can add them to your friend's list using the member id only. I don't want to receive notifications. How do I turn them off?You can turn off notifications by click on the "Change Settings" link on your profile page. You will still receive system notifications and notifications should you receive an orphan token. I am not receiving my notifications, is something wrong? The Karma Exchange notifications may be getting flagged as spam. Be sure to add karmaex.com to your accept, white, or safe list in your email program or ask your system administrator to add it to your email server. Hotmail.com will automatically flag Karmaex.com emails as spam and drop them in your spam folder. Please check your spam folder when using a hotmail.com account. What is my Karma Badge?Your Karma Badge is a dynamically generated image that shows your name (or nickname) and some of your Karma stats including messages sent and received, your rating, and your longest chain. You can post your badge on your website, in your email, or on forums by using either the link or the forum code provided on your profile page. Alternatively, you can right click on the image and copy image location. What is my Karma ID?When you become a member of the Karma Exchange, you get a unique Karma ID. We have started the ID numbers from "1" because we thought it might be fun to see how big the member numbers get. You can send your Karma ID number to friends using your link or right it on card, for example http://www.karmaex.com/6. |
